Openlands - Wedding Venue Taranaki

Welcome to Openlands, a country garden and wedding venue.  Owned and operated by Marie and Rodney Mills. 

Established in 1961 by Rodney’s parents from a ½ acre section of land with nothing more than two trees and a homestead.  Originally the property was a sheep and pig farm with a handful of dairy cows.

Now Openlands is a dairy farm with a handful of sheep.  When we took over in 1979, it was easy for us to extend the boundaries into what was paddocks, to create 2 ½ acres of our now relaxing and tranquil garden.

With the addition of a local church in 2005, we have had the opportunity to provide a venue that can cater of all occasions.  Many wedding parties have used this to their advantage by holding their ceremonies either indoor or outdoors, nibbles and photos all in one place.  Without having to worry about the weather.

Openlands invites visitors to explore the many crooks and crannies of its magical setting. 

Picnickers are welcome to sit and enjoy the water features and bask in the warmth that spring and summer has gifted us.

Viewing times are by appointment only.  Large groups are welcome.
